Ginny O’Conor Counselling

For when life becomes more challenging

Bristol and surrounding areas

About me

My name is Ginny and I have been working as a counsellor for 15 years. I am warm and approachable and love the work I do. I trained as a Person-Centred counsellor, the philosophy of which, underpins my work. However, over the years I have brought in other ways of working, particularly the use of creativity.

Research has shown that growth and change come about due to the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and client, this has been my experience. Therefore, my aim is to provide a safe, confidential, warm and secure environment based on trust and respect where this relationship can be built and in which we can explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours which can lead to a greater sense of self awareness and understanding, and ultimately a more fulfilling life.

My approach

The most important thing for me is that my client feels safe and secure in an environment that is non-judgemental. Although there are various methods informing my work, what’s important to me is that I get to know you and what you might need as we work together. My role is not to tell you what to do, or to give you advice, but its to help you find the answers by listening to you and giving you the space to explore habits and ways of thinking that aren’t working for you at the moment. I will work at your pace with what ever you want to look at each week. I work with adults face to face, which is my preference, but where necessary, I am happy to work on zoom.

Providing a safe space

The sessions are 50 minutes and can run from 6 sessions to a whole year. However, there is not a limit on sessions. We will review our sessions on a regular basis to assess progress.

Thank you for everything, you are leaving me far better than when you found me.

Rates

I offer an initial session of 30 minutes for free.

If you choose to work with me, I offer a 50-minute session at the same time and day each week, that fits in with our joint availability for £60 per session. You can pay at the end of the session by bank transfer.

I am so grateful and really appreciate all your help, I couldn’t have got through it without your support.
